What You Will Do

Reporting to the SVP of Sales, Gooder Foods Inc. Sr. Director of Grocery- Central is responsible for leading customer strategy, building relationships, and ensuring flawless execution of GOODLES at Meijer, HEB, Hy-Vee, Jewel, Giant Eagle, KeHE, and other regional grocery customers. This role will facilitate internal cross-functional collaboration to grow our business with these customers. Additionally, this role will be responsible for selling, trade planning, demand planning, and marketing all retail categories of products under the GOODLES brand in the Central US region.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop sales plan and business strategy with SVP of Sales, CMO, and head of Shopper Marketing for above customers.
  • Translate sales plan into clear and executable plans.
  • Establish and manage relationships through category reviews, business reviews, and strategic selling.
  • Effectively manage brokers and merchandisers by providing clear goals and direction.
  • Support the execution and management of budget, trade spend, forecasting, T&E, and reporting. Knowledge of Vividly is a plus.
  • Assist in building an accurate forecast for customer’s demand.
  • Ensure execution of new product launches, promotions, secondary placements, and in-stock levels.
  • Identify and pioneer programs within retailers to drive trial and awareness.
  • Work with broker partner and Goodles Insights team to understand and manage Distribution, Voids, In-stock Levels, Pricing/Promotion, and Display Compliance.
  • Collaborate with Sales Planning, Revenue Management, Supply Chain and Sales Operations to develop accurate forecast and sales plan.
  • Proactively communicate with Shopper Marketing and Demand & Supply Chain teams to coordinate display programs, promotional programs, and proactively solve issues that create executional challenges.
  • Be a visible presence in market with frequent in person store checks and “ride-alongs” with broker partners.

You have a proven track record of growing sales with key retailers in the Midwest and South-Central regions while also being innovative and able to think outside the box to bring in new accounts. As someone who is flexible and nimble, you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment and are willing to roll up your sleeves and wear multiple hats to help grow the business. You are not a lone wolf and understand the importance of cross-functional teamwork to achieve bold goals.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience in retail sales and merchandising in the CPG industry.
  • Established relationships and experience calling directly on Meijer, HEB, and other key customers in the Central Region is required.
  • Currently working as Sales Director or equivalent position within the retail food class of trade.
  • Proven and successful sales management track record.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills. A believer that it takes a whole cross-functional team to achieve bold goals. You are not a lone wolf.
  • Experience in sales and expense budgeting and management to budget.
  • Broker management experience.
  • Extensive experience with syndicated data, particularly SPINS, and the ability to interpret data and create compelling customer presentations.
  • Experience with Retail Link and other customer systems. MS Office proficiency.
  • Knowledge of the natural/organic industry.
  • Must live in assigned territory and occasional event-related weekend work is required.
