Religious School Assistant

The Religious School Assistant manages the day-to-day operations of the Temple Beth Emeth Religious School, a synagogue affiliated with Reform Judaism, including classroom assignment, staff engagement and general budget management. This role reports directly to the Director of Education and works closely alongside them. The Religious School Assistant engages with parents, students and community members at large and helps provide administrative assistance to advance the vision of the school. The ideal candidate is seeking to work with a small but impactful team of Jewish professionals in a work environment that values people, work life balance, and community.

Hours

• 20 hours per week
• Saturday - 7:00am-2:00pm
• Sunday - 3:00-7:00pm
• Wednesday – half day of work with the attendance of in person all staff meeting 11:30am-12:30pm
• Additional half day of work from home or in person based on your schedule (potentially Friday as a prep day for Saturday)

Programmatic Responsibilities

• Manage payroll once a month
• Obtain all employment paperwork for incoming teachers and madrichim (teenage teaching assistants)
• Responsible for program logistics and needs of teachers
• Plan annual trips for students. This includes booking airfare, events, lodging and managing a budget
• Order supplies and weekly pizza order
• Run general office needs on Saturday and Sunday
• Support dismissal procedure as needed
• Set up supplies and snacks and clean up and restock supplies and snacks
• Manage student attendance records
• End of year clean up including classroom clean up, inventory and ordering for upcoming year

Marketing and Communications

• Maintain religious school calendar internally and externally
• Procure marketing details needed for events
• Responsible for some religious school communications; supervisor will provide oversight

Engagement

• Work closely with the Director of Education
• Communicate with parents effectively
• Engage with students appropriately and with enthusiasm
• Create dynamic relationships with stakeholders of TBE as needed to ensure the success of our religious school

• Strong verbal/writing skills
• Has experience in Microsoft office and outlook
• Is willing to learn our database system Shulcloud
