Job Description

EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Full-time position


PRIMARY DUTY:
Responsible for completing print jobs in an effective and efficient manner to ensure customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide excellent customer service when serving the diverse campus community and public including handling printing and postage sales transactions.
  • Ensure that assigned print jobs are completed in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner. Ensure that all work is high quality and appropriately represents Northwest. Advise customers on capabilities and limitations and recommend printing options that meet customer expectations.
  • Operate various copy/multi-function devices, postage devices and other equipment necessary to provide mail and printing services.
  • Collaborate with student employees to ensure adequate coverage of mail and printing services functions in the absence of the Mail & Printing Services Manager.
  • Pick up and deliver mail and packages to/from USPS and throughout campus to meet departmental needs. Move furniture, equipment, supplies, and other University property as requested.
  • Support the Mail & Printing Services Manager in maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized print shop.
  • Perform the normal duties of receipt, inspection, and acceptance at Central Receiving while filling in for assigned workers.
  • Comply with USPS, Northwest, and Mail & Printing Services policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with others to improve Purchasing Department operations and work on Northwest strategic objectives.
  • Work independently within established procedures, including resolution of problems with established precedent. Major deviations from precedent are discussed with the supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Certification/License: Driver’s license

Experience: One year of experience in a related field, Microsoft Office Professional software (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) or similar

Skills: Excellent customer service orientation; cooperative and able to positively interact with others; organizational, analytical, intuitive, and problem-solving skills; writing, communication, and interpersonal skills; highly developed sense of professional ethics and personal integrity and respect in all interactions with others; ability to prioritize and consistently meet assigned deadlines; ability to work independently and as a team; ability to demonstrate a sense of discretion when dealing with confidential matters; ability to remain calm while dealing with difficult situations and individuals.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
:

Experience: Three-plus years of experience in a related field

WORKING CONDITIONS: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with an hour lunch. Occasional nights and weekends may be necessary. This position works primarily inside but occasionally outside in all types of weather. Noise level varies from high to low.

Printing devices including postage meter, laminator, and plotter, University-supplied computer, telephone, multi-function device, Microsoft Office Professional software (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat XI Pro software, Adobe InDesign, printing devices including postage meter, laminator, and plotter, heavy trucks/vans, and material handling equipment.


TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment, frequent heavy lifting, requires normal range of hearing and vision. Must have the ability to operate warehouse related equipment such as heavy trucks/vans, and material handling equipment. Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, walk, stand, bend, and reach including multiple hours standing to use equipment for printing/postage.
