This role will be based on-site at Louis M. Martini Winery.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager / Event Planner to spearhead our efforts in increasing corporate meeting and outing events. This role is pivotal in developing business strategies, cultivating key partnerships, and ultimately driving our event space bookings and wine sales. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the hospitality and wine industry, demonstrating exceptional relationship-building and strategic outreach skills.
What You Will Do:
• Strategic Business Development: Actively seek and cultivate partnerships with hotel sales department, visitor centers, convention bureaus, local chambers, DMCs, corporate event planners, and travel agencies to promote our winery as the premier destination for corporate events.
• Event Planning, Execution and Liaison: Oversee the booking process for event spaces, ensuring revenue and event number targets are met. Act as the primary liaison between clients to plan the events and also our hospitality teams to exceed guest expectations.
• Brand Ambassadorship: Serve as a Brand Ambassador, showcasing our portfolio's diversity during site visits and partner meetings. Leverage product knowledge to identify new business opportunities such as hotel wine placements or destination awareness collaborations.
• Competitive Positioning: Collaborate with Estate and Trade Hospitality Managers to develop enticing group rates and event packages. Maintain up-to-date competitive information to ensure our offerings stand out.
• Direct to Consumer Initiatives: Work closely with Private Client Sales and VIP Concierges to engage high-net-worth individuals for exclusive tasting experiences, driving both event bookings and wine club memberships.
• Event Execution and Liaison: Oversee the booking process for event spaces, ensuring revenue and event number targets are met. Act as the primary liaison between clients and our hospitality teams to exceed guest expectations.
• Event Promotion: Attend targeted third-party events to promote our portfolio and event capabilities. Develop strategies for wine sales during events, including wine pairing recommendations.
• Event Planning, Execution and Liaison: Oversee the booking process for event spaces, ensuring revenue and event number targets are met. Act as the primary liaison between clients to plan the events and also our hospitality teams to exceed guest expectations.
• Client Retention: Implement programs aimed at enhancing the retention rates of existing event clients. Maintain a strong presence at events to support guests and build lasting relationships.
• Operational Excellence: Ensure the Master Event Schedule and Hospitality Calendar are accurately maintained. Conduct guest surveys to identify success areas and opportunities for improvement.
What You Will Need:
• Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of event marketing and sales management, event planning, B2B account executive, or hospitality management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 9 years of event marketing and sales management, event planning, B2B account executive public relations representative or hospitality management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
• Candidates for this position must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver's license or appropriate state driver's license within 30 days of hire.
• Required to be 21 years of age or older.
• Required to lift and move product and equipment weighing up to 45 lbs.
• Required to work flexible schedules to include evenings and weekends.
• Required to travel to various locations within the region to promote the winery.
• Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

What Will Set You Apart:
• Bachelor's degree plus 7 years of event marketing and sales management, event planning, B2B account executive or hospitality management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
Compensation:
• Hiring Salary Range Posted: $93,300 - $139,900
• Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
