- Associates degree or certificate in fundraising required
- Non-profit experience strongly preferred
- Key candidates should have a passion for development/fundraising in a non-profit setting
- Highly computer-proficient, especially with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point), experience with Raisers Edge or donor databases preferred
- Strong oral, written and hospitality focused customer service skills
- Ability to maintain high level of resident and donor confidentiality
- Must have demonstrated people skills with cheerful, respectful, and ethical behavior to all
- Valid driving license and personal transportation with insurance
- Must be willing to travel for statewide events
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening test

We are seeking a Full-Time Development Assistant for our VBH Foundation in Richmond, Virginia! Our Development Assistant provides support for the Philanthropy Program at LifeSpire of Virginia, which is conducted by the Virginia Baptist Homes Foundation. The broad responsibilities include general support of the Foundation’s day-to-day operations. Key candidates must possess a passion for development/fundraising in a non-profit setting.

For over 70 years, the Foundation’s mission remains the same – through the generosity of loyal donors, we are able to provide essential services and programs to enhance the lives of our residents and team members.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Receives and processes gifts, including bank deposits and other paperwork required by finance team
- Maintains Raiser’s Edge donor database base, including gift entry, data integrity, and general maintenance
- Prepares donor and prospect mailing lists for solicitations, events, publications, and email communications
- Manages development recordkeeping and donor acknowledgement
- Prepares weekly gift reports and other reports as needed for management
- Assists the development team with event logistics management, tracking RSVPs, and other event related tasks
- Processes Foundation invoices for payment in coordination with corporate accounts payable
- Provides administrative support to development team, including general office duties—meeting preparation, ordering office supplies, filing, answering phone, copying, errands, sorting and collecting mail, etc., mailings, managing reservations, and other tasks assigned
- Maintains confidentiality of all donor, resident, and organization records
- Completes a minimum of 8 hours of development training annually on database management, event management, and other basic development topics
- Maintains Raiser’s Edge data integrity of donor records and general database maintenance
- Adheres to the AFP Code of Ethical Conduct and Professional Practices
