Position: CNC Off-Line Programmer

The CNC Off-Line Programmer will help create programs for CNC machines. The programs are created on a computer and then downloaded to the machine later.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Plans machine by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters’ interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerance (GD&T).
• Programs mills by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
• Works closely with the shop floor proving out new parts and providing technical support.
• Works with the Engineering team to optimize ongoing components.
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
• Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value.
• Maintains 6S (sort, set, shine, standardize, sustain, safety) standards in all workstations.
• Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of G & M Codes
• Experience running AutoCAD
• Intermediate math skills (ex. Algebra, trigonometry).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Ability to set-up and accurately position large scale hardware
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
• Basic computer skills

Education and Experience:
Experience operating and setting up CNC machines.

Physical Requirements:

• Uncontrolled environmental conditions: noise, dust, dirt, mobile equipment, and walking surfaces strewn with materials, power cords and tools is typical.
• Occasional lifting up to 15 lbs.,
• Any combination of standing, bending, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling and walking 8 to 10 hours per day.
• Ability to work up to 8-10 hour shifts and overtime as required by the work.
• Use of all limbs, dexterous and steady use of hands and arms for long periods of time.
• Simultaneous mental and muscular coordination, visual and audio awareness of surrounding area
