Job Description

Job description

About Us

Ray Therapeutics mission is to restore vision to people with retinal degenerations.

RayTx is using a novel bioengineered optogenetic protein optimized for human vision

delivered by AAV to restore visual function in a mutation agnostic approach and without

the need for light enhancing eyewear. The company is developing its lead candidate

RTx-015 in retinitis pigmentosa, a degenerative retinal disease with significant unmet

medical need as well as a pipeline to treat both rare and large market indications. Ray

Therapeutics has offices and labs in San Francisco Bay Area and a Vision Research

Assessment Institute (VRAI) in Irvine, CA. For additional information, please visit

Ray Therapeutics (RayTx, Berkeley, CA) has established a Clinical Visual Function

Endpoint Testing Facility in Irvine, CA called The Vision Research and Assessment

Institute (VRAI) with the express purpose of serving as a testing facility for efficacy

endpoints for patients with Low Vision. Starting in 2024, the VRAI serves as a testing

facility for the planned Phase 1 trial “RTx-015-CP-101” and RTx-015 feasibility and

qualification study “RTx-015-VRAI-NHS01”. Beyond 2024, the VRAI may serve other

future studies that require efficacy testing of patients with low vision.

The mission of the VRAI is to enable the highest quality, standardized efficacy testing of

patients with visual impairment to be performed by expert clinicians in an optimized

environment. Quality oversight will be in place to assure the integrity of the data that is

communicated from the VRAI to the clinical sites. The centralized efficacy testing model

utilized by the VRAI is made possible by the fact that inherited retinal diseases are rare

(each one has a prevalence under 200k people within USA); therefore, patients are

motivated and accustomed to travel as needed to see specialists for their condition.

The VRAI in Irvine, CA will be the location of this full-time position.
