Feeding San Diego is a non-profit organization on a mission to connect every person facing hunger with nutritious meals by maximizing food rescue. Established in 2007, Feeding San Diego rescues surplus food from local and national food donors before it goes to waste and gets it to people facing hunger in San Diego County. It is the only Feeding America partner food bank in the region.
Feeding San Diego is dedicated to building a team that reflects the diverse county we serve, including those with varying backgrounds and life experiences. Applicants who strengthen our team through personal knowledge of poverty and food insecurity, as well as members of marginalized groups, are encouraged to apply.
Feeding San Diego (FSD) is the leading hunger-relief organization in the county, distributing healthy food with dignity to San Diego residents struggling with hunger. FSD’s CalFresh team assists eligible clients with the CalFresh application, dispels myths about CalFresh, and helps eliminate barriers to accessing the program. We work collaboratively with the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency, and other CalFresh advocates to provide support for clients throughout the complex application process.
Under the direction of the CalFresh Manager, the CalFresh Intern will conduct phone application assistance through our FANO Google SNAP referrals and follow-up with clients, build relationships with community members and application assistance, and provide case management and advocacy for clients. CalFresh Intern will also do occasional in-person outreach at our various Feeding San Diego partner sites.
